Old Street Station Entrance and Lawrence East Transit-Oriented Communities (TOC) have been shortlisted for awards in the 2025 edition of the World Architecture Festival (WAF).

The annual World Architecture Festival (WAF) brings together the global architectural community to celebrate ground breaking ideas from visionary designers and cutting-edge solutions from innovative practices. The prestigious awards programme spotlights some of the best architecture projects from around the world.

Old Street Station Entrance (London, UK) was shortlisted in the Completed Buildings - Transport category. Completed in 2024, a new entrance at Old Street was an opportunity to bring light, biodiversity and motifs of forestry into this bustling London hub. We were brought in to design a new concept for the entrance on the peninsular, reworking an inherited design that needed a new approach; one that incorporated an innovative sculptural tree structure fabricated offsite, and a biodiverse green roof. Lawrence East TOC (Toronto, Canada) was shortlisted in the Future Projects - Commercial Mixed-Use category. Lawrence East represents a bold step in rethinking how urban communities evolve in tandem with transformative infrastructure, on a site that faces a series of formidable challenges: fragmented land ownership, a 5-meter topographical shift across the site, and limited pedestrian infrastructure. Despite these constraints, the project envisions a vibrant, inclusive, and transit-integrated community that redefines the standards of sustainable growth and social equity in Toronto’s underserved suburbs. We’re thrilled to be shortlisted for WAF among such exceptional peers from around the world. The shortlist is a real testament to the growing recognition that transport and infrastructure projects deserve high-quality, design-led architecture to shape sustainable cities.

The projects will be presented to WAF's esteemed judging panels at the 2025 Festival in Miami in November.
